Connecticut Tango Festival was established by Dale Ellison and Gem Duras in 2008, with a mission to introduce Argentine Tango to new enthusiasts and increase its popularity in Connecticut. Each July various activities are scheduled throughout the state, in various towns such as Milford, Norwalk, Greenwich, Middleton, Danbury, Stamford, Hartford and New Haven. The main venue of the festival is the Milford Arts Council, which sponsors the annual Tango Passion Show, as well as the majority of the classes, workshops and the Red and Black Milonga. Recent guests include such important names as the 2014 Stage Tango World Champions Manuela Rossi and Juan Malizia, Los Totis, Carolina Leonardelli and Gabriel Salvi, Oscar Mandagaran and Georgina Vargas, and Forever Tango stars Pablo Velez and Daniela Kizyma.

The CT Tango Weekend, which takes place each March, complements the festival by mostly focusing on the Boot Camp for beginners which introduces new dancers to the Connecticut tango communities.

Throughout the year weekly tango classes and monthly milongas continue under the umbrella of the Tango Sueño Academy, to keep introducing Argentine Tango to new enthusiasts and prepare them for the festival and weekend, in addition to an annual Buenos Aires group trip.
